Kyushu Hot Spring Tour: Dining, Fun, and Stay - Yufuin Part (II)

Yufuin is surrounded by mountains, with the most majestic one being Mount Yufu. Mount Yufu is still an active volcano, and the hot springs we enjoy in Yufuin originate from it. As soon as you step out of the JR station and see a towering peak, you know you've arrived in Yufuin.

Apart from Mount Yufu, the main street of Yufuin, Yunotsubo Street, is also a significant feature. The street retains the architectural style of the Edo period, making you feel as if you've traveled back to the last century. However, the shops sell more than just traditional items; they incorporate traditional elements, such as wallets made from traditional kimono fabric.

One of the forks in Yunotsubo Street leads to Floral Village, a scenic spot modeled after England's Cotswold, with buildings mimicking the English countryside style, making you feel as if you've stumbled into a European fairy tale town.

After strolling around, it's time to check into a hotel and enjoy the hot springs. Although Yufuin is dotted with various inns and hotels, those near the JR station aren't necessarily the best, and those away from the main street shouldn't be overlooked. Besides convenience, the surrounding scenery is also an important factor, especially since Yufuin's basin offers diverse natural views everywhere.
